WEEKEND ZERO: Q&A

While you don't quite have a sense of time here, it seems as though it's been more than twenty-four hours since your arrival. How are you faring? Are you feeling well? The stressors of such a place can surely perturb anyone.

Regardless of where you are, however, you'll feel as though the air is growing a tiny bit warmer. It isn't much, just a gentle breeze coming from above you before the sky seemingly splits open.

Four large archways appear, crashing straight down to the ground and opening before you. Each of them are unique in nature: a calm, jade archway, a shimmery marigold archway, an elegant quartz archway, and a steel azure archway.

As you begin to investigate, several packages soon fly out of each of the archways. Don't worry, there's one for each of you. Each package contains the following:

► Homemade scones nicely wrapped in cloth napkins
► Homemade jam
► A water bottle filled with cool, refreshing water.
► A knife
► A beautifully made omamori
► A meme sweater
► A sunflower flower crown, but the sunflowers are in your primary color
► A smart phone, preprogrammed with a list of usernames and contact cards
► A customization kit for your phone with a protective case and fun stickers
► A daily calendar of motivational quotes. However, today is listed as Weekend Zero, Day Three
► A stuffed animal that feels vaguely maternal...

More importantly, through each archway steps a figure.

From the jade archway comes a towering stone statue. At first, it truly seems like a garden statue has appeared, until you notice that it moves, slowly and stiffly. It is tall and androgynous; its features have worn away by time and by the layer of grey-green moss and lichen that grows on its stone surface. In places, the stone is cracked and fresh vines appear to peak out. It appears to be looking around at everyone.

The marigold archway reveals - nothing at first. And then, a blurry, static-y, technicolor blob zooms out at top speed and jitters around on the floor. After a pause, it starts to shiver, and then shake, and then - a hand appears out of it, and another, and then a torso, and what seems like a head. The technicolor splash of color settles into just one hue - yellow, though it changes shades from neon to muted, as the pixelated static starts to form itself into something resembling a humanoid shape. And then it waves!

Out of the quartz archway appears a large mass of feathery, beating wings that fly out to settle onto one of the twisting trees in the area, making the tree creak with the weight. Amongst the branches the shape of … something large can be picked out, but what exactly it is can be hard to tell. You can only see two massive avian claws gripping the tree just above your head, two (or three? Or more?) pink eyes follow movement on the ground below. They shift side to side when someone approaches, digging into the bark.

And exiting the blue archway is a darker figure that seems to be moving at a cautious pace, almost like it doesn't want to leave the archway at all. At first, it's difficult to decipher a size or a shape, but it settles on vaguely humanoid as well. Their form wavers every now and then, almost as if they can't settle. A closer look gives off a slight blue tint to the darkness, but aside from two bright yellow eyes no other features appear to be visible.

What a surprise.
