Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

Uhh, no. And if you’re asking me that, that pretty neatly cuts off my next question. So, what is it? Kidnap, purposeful summoning, or did a whole load of very confused people take the same wrong turn here?

[ vax just raises an eyebrow, mouth curling into a grin. it's very much a "that's what YOU think" expression. sometimes you roll a 40 on a stealth roll with your modifiers and pass without a trace.

but, anyway! the more pressing question: ]

I thought it'd be the second, if you ask me. Does seem a bit of a motley group, and there's clearly something wrong with this place. You the type to fix things up, mate?

Summoning? Ooh. I threw that one in as the wildcard. I was thinking kidnapping, but there's a lot of freedom going on here for a kidnapping. For all the good it does us when everything looks miserable and grey and there's no exit sign anywhere.

[ ... ]

Mm. Depends on what we're fixing.

Right. Precisely what I'm saying. A little summoning to fix some grand issue. [ and if vax ended up here for the reason he thinks he ended up here, there's definitely a big, grand issue. ] Would've been nice to have some instructions, but what the fuck do I know.

But if it's what I'm guessing, the sort of fixing that involves kicking something's ass.

If the "grand issue" is colour, then we're going to need some paint. [ it's said drily enough that it's apparent crow doesn't think it's that simple. ] Sure, but when have things ever been that easy. Why leave simple instructions when you could... do whatever this is, I guess.

[ he waves a hand. ]

... It'd be nice if they'd picked up my weapons along with me, if that's the case.

Think it's more like - vitality. It reminds me of someplace that had something happen to it sort of similar. The life sucked right out of the place.

[ tbt... that was a long, long time ago. ] We were able to get it restored eventually, but there was a mess to take care of before we got that far.

[ and yeah! no simple instructions!! the dryness gets vax's mouth to twitch up into a bit of a grin, and he shakes his head. ]

Agreed. 's probably part of the point, though. If something brought us here and something else needs to be attacked, it'd probably want to protect itself.

... Like the life's been sucked out of it, huh. I've seen some places that have been desolate, or long abandoned, but this is twofold. [ long abandoned and just dead. ]

A little note might've helped. We don't need ID, an address and a life story... just a sharp nudge in the right direction to get us started. Some of us have stuff to do, y'know?
