Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

It's a card game. You have a Master card, so does your opponent, and you have to beat it. Problem is, each card has unique abilities, and there are other enemy cards on the field, and all of them can hit your master card too.

Strategy, forward planning and a little bit of luck all in one.

[ maybe itaroon wouldn't know, after all. he prefers his games in a dark room on console or mobile with a side of chips and mountain dew. ]

I see... So it's kind of like chess, right? You gotta try to stay a few steps ahead. Sounds interesting!

Yeah. Those are the better games, right? They keep you thinking, and they're a good time.

Weren't those kinds of games supposed to be like practice for real-life battles? It's pretty cool! So the Master card would be kind of like your side's general.

Wouldn't surprise me. The popularity spread really far, but most of the people I personally know who play it are related to the military some way or another.

Oh? Does that mean you're in the military, too? I thought you had to wear uniforms for that.

No, I’m not in the military.

Went to the same military school, but it’s that or church led education if you don’t have the funds for the fancy private academies. Only a percentage of people who graduate Thors actually go into the military proper.

Ohhhh, things really are different out there, huh?

So what do you, then? Don't tell me - are you a pro gamer?!

Mm. Couple of people I know moved into teaching at the branch academy. Others are employed by the government, took over family businesses... one of my old classmates is a musician now.

[ all kinds. ]

Eh, not quite. Guess you could say I got myself employed by an independent company for the moment. Sounds like it'd be a pretty fun job though?

Wow, that's pretty amazing! I guess it's just like how everyone chooses different paths after high school, isn't it?

So you're a freelancer? That's cool, too! What kind of work do you do?

Thors is basically that. Just with military tactics and fighting.

I guess right now I'm between jobs. Or was just about to start on another one, but now I'm here.

Wild! I've heard about military academies, but I didn't know it was so common.

Ohhh, I see... Well, if we're lucky, this whole thing won't take too long. Then you'll be right back to your new job! What were you gonna do?

Kinda is where I'm from, at least.

... Yeah, I hope so. Stuff's kinda time sensitive, you know?

I totally get it! It's like if one of your lead actors disappears right before the show. It throws everyone for a loop! Isn't that especially rough on freelancers, too? Competition's already crazy.
