Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

[ She knew better than to come here -- everything spells creepy and haunted and Marie is absolutely terrible with any kind of suspense. Immediately after hearing the banging she's tensing up, instinctively reaching out to whatever is close...

[eep! jiuqing makes a soft, surprised noise when she's suddenly reached out to, but she doesn't jump. instead, she puts a steading arm around marie's waist.

...that's alright. This whole place gives me the creeps. Why don't we find somewhere for you to sit down?

Unfortunately any physical contact that's not initiated by her has Marie pulling back. ]

No, that's fine... I feel like trying to relax in this place is nearly impossible.

It's understandable if it's difficult, but prolonged stress will make you feel worse if you don't try to relax your body, even if you can't relax your mind.

[she sounds very matter-of-fact when she says it. speaking from experience, maybe...]

We're just... not going to try to go in there, are we?

I wasn't planning to. ...certainly not right away, anyway! I might consider it if I knew what was making that noise, and if I knew enough about it to make sure I could get in and out safely.

But barging in without being prepared seems a little silly.

[classmate]

[ Thinks about bombs. ]

I would offer my assistance, but... without a weapon, at least, I can't say that I'm much help.

Well... we've only just arrived here. We've got time to figure something out, and plenty of other strange places to investigate, anyway. Wouldn't you say?

That is true.

[ A short nod. ] My company as of late has been so forward, however... the moment there's an obstacle they typically bulldoze their way through. I've gotten used to that sort of behavior.

I know someone who's a little like that. It's reassuring to see them going full speed ahead, isn't it? ...but also a little worrying, too.

Honestly... at first I thought I'd need to scold them, but their effort is what got us as far as we are now. I certainly wouldn't have made it without them, at least.

It's much easier to make it through things when you have others right there with you, it's true.
