Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

[Atsushi hadn't been right by the door, but he's close enough that when the banging starts he screams and practically trips over himself trying to get away. At some point he ends up scooting away backwards on hands and feet because he did trip. It's only the temple fence that stops him from escaping.]

Wh-wh-what was that?!

[yikes! poor guy.

she walks over to him, bends down, and offers him a hand to help him up.]

...I'm not certain, but from the sound of it, I think I'd prefer for it to stay where it is. [good thing the door is locked!] You didn't hurt yourself when you fell, did you?

[He's still staring at the doors when she walks over, and it takes him a moment to realize she's right there. After blinking a couple times, he'll take her hand to stand up.]

No, I'm alright. I, er, fall over a lot.

But more importantly, how can we keep that 'whatever-it-is' in there? A door might not be enough.

[countermeasures]

If I had my salves with me, I could get you something for any bruises...

[which he. might have? if he falls over a lot?

...but, hmm. she eyes the door warily.]

Perhaps we ought to barricade it? Although the door does seem to be holding for now.

[there's another round of banging, as if to disagree with her, but the door doesn't burst open or anything. haha, suck it, whatever's stuck in there.]

Really, it's not necessary. If I did get any, they would pretty quick anyway. But thank you for the thought-

[The sudden banging interrupts his thoughts and makes him jump again. This time he doesn't fall over at least?]

M-maybe we should leave for now, and get others here to help with that...whatever it is.

That may work... although, I'm not sure that anyone else would have much of an idea of what it is or how to deal with it.

[she frowns at the door.]

Most everyone I've spoken to so far seems just as unfamiliar with all of this as I am. Has that been the case for you as well?

Yes, it's not anywhere I know either. I'm from a big city, we don't have stuff like this there. At least, I don't think we do.

No temple I've ever visited has been quite as eerie as this one... it seems as though it hasn't been well tended to.

Maybe it's eerie because it isn't well tended to? Like, the gods are upset and making things weird?

[countermeasures]

That seems shortsighted. How can the gods expect anyone to come back and tend it again if they're all scared off?

[moonlightbeast]

I don't know, I'm not really that religious. I only know the stories I read in books.

[countermeasures]

I guess there are plenty of stories about vengeful gods...

[moonlightbeast]

I don't even know where to start in appeasing vengeful gods.

Prayers or offerings might be somewhere to start, but we'd need to know more about the god to know what they would want.

[moonlightbeast]

Right. The prayers might sound insincere if you don't know who you're praying to.

[countermeasures]

[the banging on the door starts up again.

...well, regardless of who would hear it, I'd be quite sincere in my prayers for that commotion to stop.

[He jumps when the banging starts up again.]

her prayer pretty much amounts to please shut up.]
