WEEKEND ZERO: MINGLE
GREETINGS

Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.
Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.
Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.
Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to
Things of note!
► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the weekend, and happy settling!

... mm, I feel the same. None of this landscape looks familiar and normally when I travel, I'm at least aware of where I'm headed...
... do you wanna go back home?
no subject
I do not want to be somewhere I don't recognize.
[that's... close to an answer to the question he asked, sure.]
no subject
... should we try to make a map of the place then? Or make it at least a little more inhabitable.
no subject
More inhabitable?
no subject
[she seems young though so he won't go too much into detail about the troubles of it]
So I'd like to gather soft materials and maybe scavenge some food to give to people!
no subject
You don't know these people.
[it's a statement, but there's a question implied in it, too.]
no subject
I don't.
[confirming!
a beat]
Does that matter?
no subject
[does she expect him to explain his desire to be helpful and kind
yes.]
no subject
[he seems surprised, like he genuinely didn't expect this]
I didn't really think about that. I just don't want anyone to go hungry or have trouble resting. It's already a bad situation - no need for it to get worse.
no subject
[something about her tone makes it seem like she's not sure whether or not to believe his intentions are that altruistic (what other motivations could he have for this vin), but she doesn't outright state that skepticism.]
no subject
It's just what I want to do - but if you think it's kind, I'll take it as a compliment.
Do you want to go searching with me? So if I find anything good, you can have it.
[because he's starting to think if he offers her anything, she might not want to take it. but he just wants vin to have a blanket!!]
no subject
It'll go faster with two.
[so, yes.]
no subject
Maybe if we try again in one of the clearings... or perhaps in the household...?
I don't really understand this place - or the other one, with the strange laughter of children. [the carnival]
no subject
[she sounds surprised, but then she thinks for another moment]
The household first, I think. Maybe we'll find a clue about who lives here.
no subject
[it wouldn't be the first time he'd heard of that
but he'll nod at head in that direction!!]
Mm, a good plan. If there's anyone here, maybe we can find out what happened to this place.
no subject
[no
but she starts heading in that direction]
It does seem... strange.

no subject
They're creatures who only come out after the sun set... They eat corpses to mimic their features.
no subject
[ . . . . ]
N-No, that's not what I mean.
They have those in your home? How formidable...
no subject
I've been told they don't harm living people.
no subject
Really? I can't say that I really understand...
But I'm glad they're not physically dangerous, at least.
[he thinks it'd probably be haunting though - to encounter something that looked like a deceased loved one]
no subject
[here they are at the archway, though!]
no subject
How strange. I've never encountered anything like that -
Though I've heard of a demon or two.
no subject
[curious, as they pass through the archway.]
no subject
[he holds his hands out in front of him, limp at the rests like he's mimicking a spooky ghost]
Phantoms?
