Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

It's terribly unhygienic. Whoever owns this building should be appalled.

Not that many of the other places are much better.

No, but at least this one is absent of rain. Even if the fire does nothing to warm any of us, it is, at least, dry.

[ with a last look at his recent round of scrounging around, he moves to join her with her only barely better sheet. ]

We can last a few days without food - [ he's not eating that nasty carnival food, thank you, he doesn't know where it's been ] - but we have to figure something out for the water as soon as possible. If we can sterilize it for drinking, we can sterilize it for cleaning what little can be cleaned.

[she sighs a little wearily when he says "drinking".]

I encountered someone who has already had some of the water to drink. They haven't suffered any ill effects so far, but it's a bit too soon to tell if the water is actually safe. If you encounter Clarte, please keep an eye on them.

[big sigh.]

In theory, we should be able to boil the water to sterilize it, although the way I've not been able to feel the heat from the fire around here makes me a little worried it won't work the way I expect it to.

[ he makes a little bit of a face at that, disapproving. ] If they aren't showing symptoms of something, then maybe in small quantities it's fine. Still, better to be careful - at least for now.

Exactly my concern. It still burns, if interacted with - something we'll probably have to be on the lookout, as well, since I would absolutely not be surprised if someone's stuck their hand in there to test it.

If you go through one of the other archways, it's raining there, so I suppose collecting rainwater is an option. It wouldn't be standing water, at the very least.

[so it's probably less likely to make them sick...? eh, she doesn't know.]

...that does sound like something some of the people I've met so far might try. If I had my supplies I'd be able to treat their burns, though I'm afraid there's little I can do to treat foolishness.
