Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

Yeah. It'll probably be super deadly if it breaks out. [ pokes at the glass. she thinks that is also funny. ] But right now it's just a big ol' mass of eyes and mistakes.

I 'unno. Messed up experiments gone wrong? Quarantined mutations?

[ taps the glass ]

Maybe they just like it in there.

You think they're the ones doing the whispers behind our backs?

Could be? Could be legit ghosts too. Or even just a creepy whisper spell meant to freak out anyone who shows up.

These guys don't look like they've got a lot going on in their heads for creepy projection whispers though.

Haha, are you worried about them? They're just whispers.

[ taps the glass again ]

Just ignore them. If they're real, they'll attack eventually, and if they're not, then they won't.

Mm, exactly what I was thinking!

...Still, maybe tapping on the glass isn't a great idea, just in case it explodes or something! Want to keep me company exploring somewhere else?

[ cackles a bit because she gets that it makes vanille nervous but she does stop ]

Sure. Wanna look at the creepy mansion, the creepy lab or the creepy temple? The creepy alley's a little too boring.

Yeah. The haunted greyscale abandoned look kind of tips it off there.

It's cool. Nothing's attacking us yet, might as well explore!

[ she looks down at her monochrome clothing, then glances at marceline's ]

Are your clothes usually a little more colorful, too?

Yeah! [ throws her arms up ] Everything's been turned all greyscale! My look is totally ruined!!

[blamed]

Right? It's all... dreary! [ she pouts :( ] If it wasn't for everyone's bodies staying the same, I'd've thought I went colorblind...

It's weird that it's just our clothes though. Like... these are our outfits. Did they vacuum up the colors on just the clothes off our back while we slept? Creepy.

I was thinking some kind of... I don't know, illusion magic? [ frowns ] If the goal was to unnerve us, I'd say they succeeded.

Just specific to anything that's not ourselves though? That's some whack spell.

Magic doesn't really need to be logical all the time, does it?

No, but someone's still gotta cast the spell. Why bother just turning some stuff grey?

[ she just shrugs, makes an "i dunno" noise, and then makes a move toward the entrance. ]

C'mon, let's just see where our feet take us— maybe we'll find some kind of, I don't know, information center or something?

Spooky pamphlets?

[ she clearly does not think that's possible and just funny, but she follows ]

Maybe we'll find whoever did this and we can beat the snot out of 'em.
