Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

[ 99% of her excitement about the door is because it's freaking out this stranger and she thinks that's hilarious. rip ryunosuke ]

Well, what are you waiting for? Open it.

[ she's standing next to it. she could do it herself. ]

for the record, his eyes are like. totally wigging out, hands trembling as he for some reason listens and goes to open the door. it's a ghost it's a ghostit'saghost ]

[ the second he is RIGHT about to touch the door, she grabs at his sides suddenly ]

[ his shoulders are up to his ears as he jerk-leaps backward, except marceline is also there, which just means he steps on her foot and is about 0.02 seconds away from crashing into her completely. ]

W—We need to— [ he spins around to grab her by the arm and flee, but then he just. gapes. she's laughing. he's having a heart attack and you're laughing. ]

[ it's very funny is why she is rude? she is still laughing ]

I thought you were going to have a heart attack! [ hehehehe ] The door can't even open. I tried it earlier.

...Thanks. I feel like I'm having a heart attack.

[ he has a hand at his chest, heart violently thudding against it. it only calms a little when he looks over the door—really looks at it rather than approaching it in a panic—and sees that it's literally bolted shut. ]

—Huh? This is a little extreme, even for a ghost...

I keep telling you, dude, ghosts can go through doors.

[ she lets go now that he is calmer, patting him on the shoulder. even tho it's her fault. ]

Whatever it's keeping out is either someone who needs help or a bigger, weirder monster.

[ he needs to think that sleeping with the covers over his head will keep the ghosts out ]

[ she pats him at his request. she will let him make believe if he wants, there there.

When I touched the door I heard a scream? So. Could be either of 'em.

[ even if he still looks terrified, he quickly reaches out to push on the door this time. unsurprisingly, it does not budge in the slightest. a scream does ring out in his ears. ]

[ oh my god, he did not even hesitate. ]

Could be. Oooor it's a super obvious trap. [ she seems pretty chill about both options ] But the door won't open no matter what. We tried all kinds of stuff. And everything was [ blows a raspberry ]

[ please don't be chill about either? but it's okay, he jittery enough for the both of them, still ready to be attacked by a ghost at any moment.

he seems thoughtful at what she says all the same. ]

...It'd be a bit of nasty work for someone to lay a trap like that. [ but it's certainly possible. maybe even likely? ] Ugh, can't we even get a look inside? It doesn't feel right to just leave without knowing for sure...

Nope. No cracks, no budging, nothing. Can't even break down the walls around it. This door is as sealed as it gets.

[ she is a little bummed out about it. her curiosity? unsated? ]

Maybe if we find out whatever brought us here we can ask about the door? After we kick its butt.
