chroma | WEEKEND ZERO: MINGLE

GREETINGS

Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

Sweet rides. [ she doesn't seem to think anything of jiuqing not knowing what an amusement park is and just answers this automatically like she was Prepared for the question ] The ones that work and go super fast. Now those are fun.

I see... well, it's a shame we can't try any "sweet rides".

Yeah, most of this place is super lame. Even the cotton candy's grey. [ no priority is fun always? she leans against a mirror casually ] It's all haunted carnival rides and broken down stuff in this place. It's depressing.

...in a way, it matches up with the places I've seen by passing through the other archways. Have you been through them yet?

Yep. They're all super gross and messed up and gray. [ :T ] You think there'd be one normal thing in this place at all.

I'd hope that, yes, but even our things...

[she frowns, then indicates their clothing.]

I don't know what yours was like before, but mine was certainly much more colorful... but they sort of blend into the surroundings, now.

I'm goth, but not that goth. I totally had colors before this too. [ she picks at her shirt ] It's a blob of grey all over. Weird that we still have our colors and our clothes don't though.

I suppose it's possible to dye cloth, but not quite so easy to change one's hair or eye color...

Although, if this is the result of some kind of dye, it's strange that it worked so thoroughly.

I don't think you can dye colors out of clothes. It's probably some weird magic biz.

If the dye isn't high quality, it can come out after several washings, but that raises even more questions...

I don't think washing like that turns clothes grey either. Just kind of mucky? [ tugs at her clothes ] This looks like color drain to me.

But how would someone manage to do that...?

Iunno. Magic? I drain the color red from stuff when I eat it. But I've never heard of anyone eating the other colors.

I see. [she's not going to say "that's not possible!" because... well, something is clearly responsible for the color being gone here. just because jiuqing doesn't understand it doesn't mean it's not real.] I haven't heard of anyone eating colors at all, before now, so this is all new to me...

But there must be some explanation for it...

It's not a regular thing. I'm kind of the only one I know who does it.

[ she looks at one of jiuqing's reflection. just for fun. ]
