WEEK SIX: EXECUTION

EXECUTION: CLARTE

Sunday morning starts peacefully enough, until around noon, when alarms start going off on your phones. The dreadful noise is accompanied by a reminder of the execution taking place in the Central Node. You can snooze the alarms at first, but they begin to get a little more insistent. If you're being stubborn, you can probably hold out until exactly 1 PM, when an archway opens right in front of you and pulls you in.

Today the Central Node is eerily quiet and empty. There are a few blankets laid out on the grass for those of you who wish to sit instead of standing the whole time. No refreshments have been provided, but the Residents are already there waiting for you.

As the last person enters the node, an enormous archway suddenly opens. This archway once again leads to an area which is pitch black inside, with white and grey dust falling softly like snow. The chilly air feels even colder than before, and you instinctively know you must not approach it. If you try to push through anyway, something is blocking your way. Smaller tears to the same space open in the air, at the very least. You can see what's happening, even if you can't follow.

Because - once the archway is open, Clarte alone will begin to walk through as though drawn. All you can do now is watch and wait.

[the archway opens. it’s dark inside, besides the gently falling gray and white dust all around. everyone's feet will be frozen where they are sitting or standing, but they are free to move their hands and mouths.

only clarte will be able to step forward into the archway. they feel as though they're in something of a trance, walking through into the darkness, unable to stop themselves or resist. but it doesn’t feel bad in there. it feels numb, and cold, a void, absent of feeling, like the dead of going to sleep. after the weekend clarte has had, perhaps that feels nice.

and then they opens their eyes, slowly, as if they're waking from a pleasant dream. everyone waiting back in the central node can see as clarte seems to come back to themselves, and through the large archway and the tears in the air around them, they can see the dark void swirl with color and begin to shift.]

[ Everyone, your feet frozen for the time being, you can talk and hold hands or whatnot. This includes your Residents, who seem to be present this time. ]

A THING

[as this continues, you feel the phantom sensation of chains on your wrists, holding you in place, dragging you down. they're painful. you're trapped.]

[They open their eyes, and find themselves standing in a dark, dark room. There doesn't even appear to be a light switch in here. No furniture, either. They stand here in this closet, and they wait. It's expected of them. And they know why that's the case, right? Why would you give an object any sort of accommodation?

Days pass. It has to be days, but there aren't any windows in here, so it's hard to tell. Still, they hear the sound of people walking outside the closet, going about their daily life. There are more important things to worry about. They wait, and they wait. Nobody comes for them.

Until someone does. The door clicks, and unlocks. And in front of them is a curl of color, a smudge of what seems to be a person. It speaks.

Out here. Now.]

[Yasusada is here, dressed in a light green yukata today, with his haori draped over his shoulders. He looks tired, and his eyes are a little red, like he's been crying--but he's here nonetheless, standing quietly with Kashuu and watching the scene play out.]

[jiuqing is here, too, and seems to have used the pods - there's not a bandage or a bruise in sight, though there are thin scars where her wounds were before.

she's also in layers again, her hair pulled up into the same hairstyle as yesterday. she's watching this play out for clarte, her shoulders tense, one hand coming up to her mouth every so often to muffle a cough.]

[ He's standing with Kazu today, but he is stealing looks over at Swords. ]

[Oh, this is already hateful.

Nogiku watches the proceedings with a look of sheer frustration on her face, gripping her arms with enough force to bruise. She is no longer bandaged up like she was yesterday, her injuries reduced to scabs — with one exception. On her right hand, her knuckles are split open and bruised. Like yesterday, she is wearing her hair up in a bun with a familiar hair pin holding it in place.]

in a way, it's familiar; genuinely so, to their soul. it echoes to a memory past clarte's reach, that they only know of—being kept locked away, waiting for their disposal date. it's something the "past" clarte knew, but the chains of which the "current" them was free from.

well, at least they're not claustrophobic.

silently, they follow the command and exit. following the will of others', as is so ingrained in a part of them.]

[as vin stands and watches, it looks like her injuries have shifted to scars, and it doesn't seem like she's having trouble seeing as she gazes forward at the scene in front of them. she's tense and quiet, for now.]

[ well, crow is here. he's dressed comfortably, minus sunglasses. one hand is tucked in his pocket and he's just watching the events playing out in front of him with a tired look on his face. ]

[ back again for more death. as usual, kazunari is next to kumon with an arm around his shoulders, watching clarte quietly. ]

[ damien is here. he looks tired. "but it's one pm" yeah. tired.

he's toying with his bracelet kind of anxiously... ]

[ he's just going to immediately lean on him. ]

[ he's standing on the other side of kazu. his hands are just crossed against his arms and he's just stealing looks over at pomnut ]

[ Aymeric is here to witness the verdant jan-betrayal, somber and silent. He keeps his arms crossed, but every once in a while he raises his hand to cover a cough. ]

he's got something in his hand, and is turning it over his knuckles every now and then, but is otherwise steady and still, watching the proceedings silently, likely shoulder to shoulder with percy as usual. ]

[ Sitting next to Kumon, clinging to him with both arms around his shoulders. ]

[ deposits ruby here. she'll stand close to vin, also remaining quiet, for now. and reaching to gently hold her hand. ]

[Kashuu's glued to Yasusada's side as usual today, and he also looks healed! Yay. One hand is busy switching between holding a handkerchief to his mouth and clutching the amber pendant around his neck, though, as he watches the scene play out in front of them. He hates it hare! Thanks!!]
