WEEK SIX: EXECUTION

EXECUTION: CLARTE

Sunday morning starts peacefully enough, until around noon, when alarms start going off on your phones. The dreadful noise is accompanied by a reminder of the execution taking place in the Central Node. You can snooze the alarms at first, but they begin to get a little more insistent. If you're being stubborn, you can probably hold out until exactly 1 PM, when an archway opens right in front of you and pulls you in.

Today the Central Node is eerily quiet and empty. There are a few blankets laid out on the grass for those of you who wish to sit instead of standing the whole time. No refreshments have been provided, but the Residents are already there waiting for you.

As the last person enters the node, an enormous archway suddenly opens. This archway once again leads to an area which is pitch black inside, with white and grey dust falling softly like snow. The chilly air feels even colder than before, and you instinctively know you must not approach it. If you try to push through anyway, something is blocking your way. Smaller tears to the same space open in the air, at the very least. You can see what's happening, even if you can't follow.

Because - once the archway is open, Clarte alone will begin to walk through as though drawn. All you can do now is watch and wait.

[He's curled into himself, once again not watching.]

[ Sitting next to Kumon, clinging to him with both arms around his shoulders. ]

...hey. Did you bring the eye mask and the headphones?

[9mon]

[He does, indeed, have both of these things in his pockets.]

Yeah. [Not wearing them yet.]

... Feeling okay, Danny?

[gogoghostpowers]

[ nervous laugh ] Yeah. Of course I'm fine, Kumon.

[ he tightens his hug around him though ]

[9mon]

[He leans into him and braces for this execution to get worse.]

[gogoghostpowers]

[ Danny lets his head rest on Kumon's shoulder, trying to keep still when he starts hacking up a few brambles and blue flower petals. ]

[9mon]

[Kumon is not coughing. He loops an arm around Danny for at least a little bit of stability.]

[gogoghostpowers]

[ his grip tightening as things get more and more violent, more and more awful. ]

Kumon...put on the mask and headphones.

[9mon]

[He does put on the headphones, but he tucks his face into his knees. One his hands is still clutching onto Kazunari's and the familiar small amber keychain.]

[ Good. Now that the headphones are on, Danny feels like he has...permission, almost.

As the execution carries on, he buries his face into Kumon's shoulder and clings on for dear life, weeping into him. ]

[Just looking over, with a concerned expression.]

[She's coughing petals into her hand, but she's stashing them away in her pockets.]

[ gives him a concerned look. ]

Fenty...

[9mon]

[ You could've cried on him even without the noise cancellation.

Kumon hugs him tighter. ]

[dms]

[ danny's got his shoulders so kazu will just press the little plush keychain into kumon's hand so they can both hold onto it. ]

I'll be right here if you need me, Kumopi.

[9mon]

[It's calming but the circumstances are so...

He holds onto it and tries to keep his breathing even.]

Thanks, Kazu.

[ it's a calming reminder of the home they so badly want to return to, at least. kazu takes deep breaths alongside kumon and glances back at clarte anxiously now and then. ]

[9mon]

[He is not watching what is happening in front of them, but he flinches every time he hears screams.]

[dms]

[ glad he put on the headphones. kazu holds onto his hand a little tighter as danny starts to cry. ]

[9mon]

[There is so little he can do and he is so stressed (8). He clings tighter onto Kazunari's hand.]

[dms]

[ well he hasn't fainted yet so that's something? i guess? he can't offer any reassuring words through the headphones, so he just rubs circles on the back of kumon's hand with his thumb instead. ]

[9mon]

[His breathing seems to even out slightly, slowly.]

[dms]

[ ...kazunari sighs, and scoots a little closer so he can at least make sure that kumon can rest easy without falling over. danny's got his other side, so that helps... maybe. ]

[... Occasionally, she turns her head to look at Kumon and his support group in concern.]

[9mon]

[he doesn't seem in danger of fainting.... yet.]

[Truly hate that it's only "yet."]
