Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

It really don’t think it can hear me. And hey, if it can maybe it’ll remember me as a nice young man that talked to it in its time of loneliness and isolation and come for me last.

[she rolls her eyes at the joking, frowning at the creature in the tube.]

You might wake it up.

It's not woken up so far. I mean, it could be a heavy sleeper, but that seems like a stretch when I'm literally hitting the tube it's in.

[she squints for another moment at the creature, then shrugs.]

I guess.

[zero trust in this place not having the horrifying monster pop out to fight them all, unfortunately. after a moment, though:]

You seem calm.

[ yeah, kill them monster. double dare you. ]

Maybe.

Freaking out isn't going to make the monsters disappear, or a door home to suddenly phase into existence. [ ... ] I think?

You seem pretty collected yourself.

[giving a little shrug to that.]

Nothing dangerous has happened yet.

The big word there's probably "yet".

[a quick nod of agreement.]

I'm not letting my guard down. I just don't see a reason to panic before anything happens.

So. We're probably fine until these things wake up and break out. If they can actually wake up, and can actually break out.

[staring at the monster again, but:]

There are other strange things here.

[many concerns (that do not appear to be visibly bothering her).]

Nothing's attacking us. We're not... well, I'm speaking for myself here, but I'm not bleeding out from any wounds; nothing's stopping me from exploring the place, and I'm in possession of all my memories and controlling all my actions.

[ ... ]

Could be much worse.

[most of those reasons check out to her, but in response to the last two:]

That's a strange kind of comfort.

If something can pluck us out of our homes and drop us in the land that colour forgot, then they could probably have done worse to us too.

Of course I do. It's just that those examples seemed... Very specific.

I think it's a pretty legit fear? Losing control of yourself sounds pretty freakin' unsettling.
