GREETINGS

Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

[Atsushi isn't inclined to wait for answers either, and he's been looking around quite a bit already. A temple isn't the kind of place he would normally visit- he's respectful, but not particularly religious- but he can at least tell that the place is very wrong and off, just like everywhere else.]

Ah? Who's that?

[Atsushi will follow Chang Geng in though. He's a little on edge but curiosity is winning out right now.]

A friend. [ amending ] And a monk - while this isn't a temple I've ever seen, where I'm from, especially one I've visited with him... it's still a place of worship. Usually monks maintain the ones of this size. This is...

[ he's respectful, of course, but he's... careful if anything, more than on edge. especially when they've crossed the bridge. ]

Well, terrible. Much like the rest of this place.

[A monk and a friend, got it.

Honestly Atsushi does sense that Chang Geng is on edge, and that makes him a bit more wary too.]

Mmm. Whatever this place is, something terrible has happened. And I get the feeling that we're not going to be able to leave until we find the person responsible.

[he's 3 for 3 on "can't escape the weird place until the ability-user is defeated" so far, so it's a reasonable assumption for him.]

Oh, that is how that tends to go, isn't it?

[ find the one responsible for the situation, and then the situation will be over. while it's not a similar experience, chang geng at least seems to understand this in his own way. ]

We won't find them right away, I would imagine. [ his tone remains level and calm, and he starts to investigate the exterior of the shrine itself. ] No signs so far of anyone having been in the places I've seen so far in... a very long time.

Probably not. There's going to be a long chase first, and probably something involving fighting monsters.

[It's always monsters, or other people. But this place doesn't look like anyone has been here for a while, so.]

None of the other Agency members are here either...I don't even know if I can fight this by myself.

Monsters. [ said almost like a question, but almost not at the same time. the latter is a sort of "sure, why not" that he just goes along with at this point. ] Yes, I could see that.

[ he frowns, looking towards the entrance of the shrine proper. kinda weighing his choices here. ]

But, yes, if you don't find any familiar faces - I certainly haven't - I don't imagine anyone knows that we're missing.

Yeah. You know, tigers, or wolves, or rabid beasts like that.

[Monsters.

And he sighs at the last part too.]

You're right, they probably haven't realized I'm missing yet. It took them ages to notice I got kidnapped the last time.

Manageable enough, if it's only something of that caliber. I imagine we could make weapons from what's lying around if we put effort into it.

[ chang geng doesn't seem too bothered by the idea of tigers and wolves, really, and instead starts up the steps, ignoring anything out of the corner of his eye. ]

Do you have the misfortune of finding yourself kidnapped often..?

Spears maybe, but I'm not sure we're going to make any guns here.

[Give Atsushi a knife, he has a great track record with weapons.

Up the steps they go! Atsushi is finding himself getting a bit winded as they go, but he tries to cover that up because he doesn't want to seem like a wimp without his powers. Even if he's a wimp without his powers.]

This would be the fourth time in as many months.

Considering the process to make weapons like guns, no. I don't think we're going to be seeing much of that.

[ not that he'd be interested in them, really, but it would nice to have something.

he's too keyed up to let himself stop, so he keeps going. but he does pay attention to what state atsushi is in, especially if any of the exhaustion shows, because he's a good and polite boy. ]

... my condolences, that's unfortunate. At least in this case you aren't alone in it.

[It's more of him being winded and slowing a bit, thankfully it's not a million stairs or anything.]

I guess 'unfortunate' is one way to describe it. People were just being rude for most of them. You would think they would learn I can escape it after the first or second time.

[Kidnapping: more of an inconvenience than a problem.]

[ chang geng's in no rush, and it's better to err on the side of caution even if he's fairly calm about it, so he'll match pace with atsushi even after the stairs are done. ]

Well, sometimes, those kinds of people don't have much sense. They're kidnapping in the first place, that tends to imply either desperation or a false sense of superiority.

I think it was definitely the latter in all cases. And only one of them seemed even remotely sorry for it after the fact.
