WEEKEND ZERO: MINGLE
GREETINGS

Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.
Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.
Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.
Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to
Things of note!
► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the weekend, and happy settling!

[ well, here's the arrival prompt.
when chang geng comes into focus, there's something sharp in his expression, a blink and you'll miss it sort of alarm - and then he evens out again, as if this is absolutely normal. he reaches, right above the leather of his bracer in the crook of his elbow, pinching without looking down, scanning the area, taking it in.
pensive concern, there. but alright. he can work with this. and he'll very diligently check on whoever's arrived in this place, too. ]
Certainly better conditions to find ourselves in, but certainly there are worse ones, as well. Are you alright?
II. a moment of prayer
[ exploration is eventual, and chang geng is not particularly inclined to sit around and wait for answers. his wandering, cautious and calm, brings him to... something a little familiar. the temple is more dong ying than it is something from great liang, but he's regardless drawn to it.
its upkeep, though... dryly: ] Amitābha, what a state. Even Master Liao Ran would swoon.
[ well, he's going in! crossing the bridge, anyways. he doesn't pay much mind to whether he's accompanied or not. ]
III. salvage attempts
[ so. in the mansion? chang geng is just picking through various rooms, going from placidly on guard to getting vaguely tired of all of this shit. you can find him checking out what sheets there are here with a sort of disdain, actually, which broaches on disappointment.
when he notices someone's joined him, he holds up one in particular that's raggedy and... bloodstained. you could hope it was chocolate. it probably wasn't. ] While old, this sort of thing never does bode well. I can't say I've found anything useful, though - you?
IV. wildcard
[ throw something at me or hit me up on the disco/plurks! or yeet a pc in my face! lesgo! ]
II
Ah? Who's that?
[Atsushi will follow Chang Geng in though. He's a little on edge but curiosity is winning out right now.]
no subject
[ he's respectful, of course, but he's... careful if anything, more than on edge. especially when they've crossed the bridge. ]
Well, terrible. Much like the rest of this place.
no subject
Honestly Atsushi does sense that Chang Geng is on edge, and that makes him a bit more wary too.]
Mmm. Whatever this place is, something terrible has happened. And I get the feeling that we're not going to be able to leave until we find the person responsible.
[he's 3 for 3 on "can't escape the weird place until the ability-user is defeated" so far, so it's a reasonable assumption for him.]

I'm alright. Well - I think my eyes may be [a beat] Um. Not entirely alright.
And you?
no subject
Things are a little... difficult to focus on, you're not the only one. And it's like color's been drained out. [ he lifts an arm, moving a sleeve that's a pale grey compared to the plain white and deep black. ]
So, the same as you, probably. Physically fine, at least.
no subject
Right, exactly that!! [he gestures at himself] This is normally green and - [a gesture to the flag on his arm] I'm used to this being red.
It feels a little... dull without either.
But I'm glad you're alright. That's a relief. No one seems to be.... too physically harmed, for the most part.
[garou is out there]

[jiuqing is likewise holding onto a bloodied sheet, and just coming in to take a look at the ones in this room. what she's holding onto is slightly less bloody than some of the others she's come across, but that bar is pretty low, so.]
The water I've found doesn't look quite right, either. So washing these seems like it would be difficult, even if we found anything else we'd need to wash them.
no subject
I'd noticed that, as well. Everything is... old. Stale. [ dead, in some cases. scraggly. he sighs, folding the sheet despite its uselessness and setting it aside. ] There have been worse conditions, but not by much.
no subject
[honestly, she's kind of appalled.]
Not that many of the other places are much better.

Is that a priest?
no subject
anyways shitty jokes aside. chang geng looks up at the temple almost absently, taking it in, frowning at the steps after the rickety bridge doesn't (woefully) fall apart in crossing. ]
A monk, of the Hu Guo Temple. This isn't one of theirs, though, I can tell that much.
no subject
Anyway Yasusada nods thoughtfully, looking up at the temple. He doesn't recognize the name Hu Guo, but that's fine.]
I don't think it's familiar to anyone, really... it would be stranger if it was, you know? If everything else is new.

Probably no?]
I'm okay...
no subject
chang geng moves so he doesn't kneel on his cloak, reaching to help turn kumon's head out of the dang ground carefully. ]
Considering where you are, I'm going to politely disagree. Do you hurt anywhere?

Nope. Everything's too broke or weird to even properly scavenge into anything. And it's aaaaall grey. Can't even eat any of it.
no subject
I'd be reluctant to eat anything here in the first place. [ colorful or not. ( cg voice ) what do you mean you eat color ] Or drink the water, considering how it looks.

[ okay, sarcastic bitching aside ]
I dunno. There are beds and chairs that are... Still mostly functional. Better than nothing.
no subject
Oh, definitely better than nothing. Strange kidnapping aside, we could be far worse off than we are. Even if we probably should err on the side of caution when it comes to what passes as drinking water.

ii!
Super gross, right? Whatever's in there is probably pissed that it got locked in such a dump, honestly.
[Because of course he's been here multiple times by now and has definitely gotten used to(???) their locked-up, noisy friend.]
no subject
Oh? [ something is locked up? great. he seems sort of politely interested instead of deeply concerned about that. like - sure, this might as well happen. ] Any sight of what it is, or are we left to wonder what's unhappily locked inside?
(no subject)
iii
Nothing. Not even decent food or water.
no subject
The fire doesn't give off heat, but it does burn, so I can't help but wonder if we can maybe solve the water problem if we could find a way to boil it. But otherwise, mm - nothing.

[ from zero to extreme, very fast. ]
no subject
Probably better not to, considering this place has the most shelter available to us, versus the other places those "doorways" take us through. But we might be able to get inventive with it if we felt like it.
