WEEKEND ZERO: MINGLE

GREETINGS

Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to

chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

Not thus far... Though there's been a few jumps and noises - but I wouldn't exactly attribute any of them to rabbits.

If there is no animal life and the plant life is all but gone, none of that bodes well.

Hmm... You're right. And we've got a few mouths to feed - I wonder if there's anything we can still scrounge up. Maybe there's a farm to still be found?

[ She adjusts the jacket to wrap around her more. It's hers now. ]

I haven't walked through the archways enough times to say.

[ So sure, maybe there could be a farm. ]

Although most of the places I saw looked abandoned.

buzen will just nod!! and occasionally when he feels an especially strong chill he'll do a full-body shake like a big golden retriever, but that's about it]

I'd say so too - though some managed to find some edible goods even though the taste isn't... [a beat] But well, maybe that's something we can improve!

At least in early scouting the issue is more with... the feeling I get if I wander too far...

[ It may not be that much warmer, but something is more than nothing. ]

Well... I feel like there's more to be found - but when I start wandering out too far, this unexpected fatigue sets in so I have to head back. [a beat] Though I do plan to keep trying.

It's really rather strange. I'm not sure if I can explain... really any of it. It's nothing I've encountered before - and based on how confused everyone else is, it sounds like the same for them.

[ time to go through the archway for the mansion with the defunct fire. ]

If it's everyone... We could be kidnapped, summoned, or part of some accident. I haven't experienced anything like this either, but I like none of these options. Or any other option I haven't considered.

... but if that's the case, why have we been left to our own devices? Maybe it was an accident....

Well - we should at least try to find what resources we have and gather them.

We should collect what we can from the rainy location. There's no telling how finite that food supply is, even if it's unsatisfactory.

[he frowns a bit more at that, expression sharper for a second. it doesn't normally occur to him when cruelty happens but the reminders of it aren't great

None of the food I saw was similar to what I'm used to, but whatever you think is the most filling. Anything with bread.

and to his credit, he is very fast. he'll eventually come back from the rainy area and he's got a little bag of stale hot dogs (gross) and cotton candy (still gross) and will slow to a jog once he's back in the manor]

That was faster than she expected, perhaps. By the time he's back, she found the cleanest spot, which probably isn't all that clean, to sit down. Her dress is too fancy for this, but a girl makes do. ]

If thinking was all it took, I'd be untouchable. Your jacket helps.

I was able to find this - though when I sampled it, it wasn't exactly delicious... but it's something.

It's a shame none of the food tastes good. I think this could be fun to eat otherwise.

I was told that normally this is quite sweet - so normally exactly what I want!

... but it seems like even the small pleasures have been stolen for now.
