WEEKEND ZERO: MINGLE
GREETINGS

Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.
Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.
Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.
Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to
Things of note!
► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the weekend, and happy settling!

[ Anywhere outside, Roxana walks with her arms wrapped around herself. Her fancy dress and gloves are no defense against the cold outdoors, and while she isn't visibly shivering, she could use a cloak or coat or three.
It's obvious she's investigating, or perhaps it could be she's searching. Either way, she asks anyone: ]
Have you seen any wildlife?
laboratory
[ Is the inside any warmer than the outsides? Who knows?
But there are more things in here, and she's surveying all the tubes and chemicals. It doesn't seem like she's too bothered by any of the monsters or any of the sounds. She greets anyone with a curious smile. ]
Is any of this familiar to you?
temple
[ Or more like, she's standing on that bridge high above the river. She's looking down at said river. ]
It'd be a shame if anyone fell.
[ has anyone asked if someone can fall yet ]
no subject
Not thus far... Though there's been a few jumps and noises - but I wouldn't exactly attribute any of them to rabbits.
[a beat]
Would you care for a coat, miss?
no subject
If there is no animal life and the plant life is all but gone, none of that bodes well.
[ She tilts her head with a small smile. ]
You'd have my thanks.
no subject
Your thanks, my jacket. A solid trade, then.
[but he thinks a little bit more about the animal life and plant life...]
Hmm... You're right. And we've got a few mouths to feed - I wonder if there's anything we can still scrounge up. Maybe there's a farm to still be found?

[Says Hot Pants, bluntly - she's staring at something glancing bck at her with a frown. These things are ugly!]
...Is any of it familiar to you?

Roxana shakes her head minutely. ]
I'm not a stranger to monstrous creatures, but none of them are these specific breeds. Even if they weren't modified, I don't think I'd recognize them.
no subject
You're no stranger to...creatures? [She aims a little incredulous look at the other for that.] What sorts of creatures are you used to?

'Tis a shame to see the bridge in such a state, but we shouldn't linger overlong. I'd daresay a gale could whirl us over.
no subject
As you say.
[ Although she doesn't seem at all unbalanced even if the bridge is dilapidated and rickety, she turns to walk towards the temple. ]
I only wonder if there is a path to reach the river.
[ Their lack of WATER. ]
no subject
The Fates would be kind if that were so. Kinder if the water was refreshing.
[ But they're at the temple— ]
I'm of the mind to scour, but...

[Thanks, November]

There's no questioning a death from these heights. I only hope no one would be so unfortunate, and I suspect any lingering spirits would be more than simple shadows.
no subject
[Cheerful thoughts with November 11, yay]
I wouldn't know -- spirits are not something I'm familiar with at all. They're better left alone anyway, aren't they?

No... Not even so much as a rat or a cockroach. [Sighs.] It's not a good sign.

If there are no insects at all, conditions must have been very harsh.
[ Unless this is just how it always was. ]

What do you think happened for it all to end up this way?

No idea where it goes, for one thing. Trekking down a whole river seems like a pain in this situation.
no subject
Making us feel terrible for trying to search too far is bothersome, but all I've seen for water otherwise is rain or what's at that mansion.
[ And where it goes would be something, which is more than nothing. ]
no subject
None of it seems especially safe to be drinking, but we don't really have many other choices. Think the river water's gonna be different?
