EXECUTION: TRIAL BY COMBAT

Sunday morning starts peacefully enough, until around noon, when alarms start going off on your phones. The dreadful noise is accompanied by a reminder of the execution taking place in the Central Node. You can snooze the alarms at first, but they begin to get a little more insistent. If you're being stubborn, you can probably hold out until exactly 1 PM, when an archway opens right in front of you and pulls you in.

Today the Central Node is eerily quiet and empty. There are a few blankets laid out on the grass for those of you who wish to sit instead of standing the whole time. No refreshments have been provided, but the Residents are already there waiting for you.

As the last person enters the node, an enormous archway suddenly opens. This archway once again leads to an area which is pitch black inside, with white and grey dust falling softly like snow. The chilly air feels even colder than before, and you instinctively know you must not approach it. If you try to push through anyway, something is blocking your way. Smaller tears to the same space open in the air, at the very least. You can see what's happening, even if you can't follow.

Because - once the archway is open, Atsushi and Vin alone will begin to walk through as though drawn. All you can do now is watch and wait.

[ oh moves this because we're in sync. THEY'RE WORSE. there's just a whole, brand new wave of frustration and regret that wells up in damien at this.

first his atsushi! and now his vin!!!!!!!! ]

after a moment of, well. not trying to counter with calm, but mostly making sure his own emotions are going to do a spook and startle anyone because... yeah this really sucks? crow will just bump his hand against damien's and hook a finger around one of his.

like the world's shittiest connection to anything outside of what's going on in a terrible situation they're not actually allowed to influence. ]

[ that's... weirder than just holding hands, man? so damien's feelings do the usual ???????? about it, but - he really can't think about it for very long.

he's busy watching children go on a sad murder date. ]

[ dude he has no idea when damien's gonna hiss like a cat and try to vanish. they can hold hands if he prefers.

to be fair crow also does a jolt when atsushi just SHOOTS THE GIRL HE CONFESSED TO so maybe they both just broke each other's hands. ]

[ he's just been holding onto him watching this whole time i guess but now we have A Thing and the stabbing and damien's emotions were already just a nightmare and now they're worse.

... feeling like he's capable of hurting people he cares about is nothing new. but it's also so, so easy to feel angry about it. and about this whole situation. ]

(the answer is no, obviously). probably not helped is crow's emotions doing an angry paranoid spike but the effort he goes in to trying to claw it back down. it's not like he doesn't already done that -- hurt people who matter to him under his own violition, no manipulation or coaxing needed.

what's new, prism? what's new. ]

[ he's not good he's ANGRY because that is so much better than having to feel shame or nervousness or fear.

empathy really makes it easy to feed on other people's similar anxieties, huh. ]

[ if he's shutting his own angry paranoia down then you can too damien, deep breaths. but he does give his hand a firm squeeze though. it's partially for him -- he still has control of his actions, even through all that anger and anxiety. ]
