chroma | WEEK SIX: EXECUTION

EXECUTION: CLARTE

Sunday morning starts peacefully enough, until around noon, when alarms start going off on your phones. The dreadful noise is accompanied by a reminder of the execution taking place in the Central Node. You can snooze the alarms at first, but they begin to get a little more insistent. If you're being stubborn, you can probably hold out until exactly 1 PM, when an archway opens right in front of you and pulls you in.

Today the Central Node is eerily quiet and empty. There are a few blankets laid out on the grass for those of you who wish to sit instead of standing the whole time. No refreshments have been provided, but the Residents are already there waiting for you.

As the last person enters the node, an enormous archway suddenly opens. This archway once again leads to an area which is pitch black inside, with white and grey dust falling softly like snow. The chilly air feels even colder than before, and you instinctively know you must not approach it. If you try to push through anyway, something is blocking your way. Smaller tears to the same space open in the air, at the very least. You can see what's happening, even if you can't follow.

Because - once the archway is open, Clarte alone will begin to walk through as though drawn. All you can do now is watch and wait.

[Yasusada leans against him, grip tight on his hand. He doesn't say much in response one way or the other, focused on Clarte, but he does nod or shake his head, or otherwise acknowledge it whenever Kashuu speaks to him.

This execution definitely won't hit super hard for the two living object spirits watching it.]

[IT'S FINE.......... They are doing normal amounts of coping.]

[The sight of blue wings has him turning his face away to cough--whatever the flowers are, he just grips them tightly in his free hand.]

[Mood!! He gives Yasusada's hand a squeeze, expression still relatively controlled even though he's also just hacking up flowers into his handkerchief. Hateful. Knowing to expect the worst sure doesn't help anything!!]

[IT SURE DOESN'T. He automatically lifts a hand to rub at Kashuu's back, though, doing what he can to steady himself at the continued onslaught of familiar faces.]

[THIS IS HATEFUL. He will watch it dutifully to the end anyway, but damn does it suck. He just leans into Yasusada's side, quiet.]

[Clarte reaches Melina--and Yasusada's expression changes, then, falling into a sympathetic sort of misery on Clarte's behalf. He's stopped coughing for now, and the chains don't bother him nearly as much as other things have, but those are barely even small mercies.]

[Yeah being forced to kill your loved ones against your will isn't traumatic for swords at all this is fine.

He'll just keep his eyes fixed forward, on Clarte, even as they beg for no one who can actually come to help them. There's a cold fury brewing in his expression, but he burned most of his anger out much earlier. For now, even with the weight of their invisible shackles, he just holds Yasusada's hand tightly and waits for this farce to end.]

[It's already bad enough witnessing a pain that's so horribly familiar. But then Clarte is ordered to kill themselves, right on the heels of yesterday's trial--and Yasusada has to turn his face away again, closing his eyes and resting his head on Kashuu's shoulder. His grip on Kashuu's hand is painfully tight.]

[WE HATE IT IN THIS HOUSE THANKS VERY MUCH. They're going to break each other's hand bones but it's fine. He's also holding tight, though he'll speak something into Yasusada's ear, closing his eyes for only a brief moment. His eyes don't leave Clarte.]

[HELP THEIR HAND BONES. It's fine they can just tape their swords to their hands.

It takes a few long, shaky breaths, but eventually he nods, and lifts his head again. There's something hollow in his gaze, but he turns his attention back to what they can see.]

[Yeah they can just pod about it in yaywon's honor. In the meantime he'll just bonk his forehead against the side of Yasusada's noggin before turning his attention back, too, in time to see Clarte's last show of will.]

[Sorry he's just kind of blue screening now]

[HAHA YEAH this. is a lot of emotional whiplash happening because 1. THEIR CLARTE HAS BEEN SAVED but 2. the Danny and Nogiku thing is happening and his expression just. Closes off completely.]
