WEEKEND ZERO: OVERFLOW
WOW

Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.
Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.
Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.
Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to
Things of note!
► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the weekend, and happy settling!

truly hope vin still feels that way in a few moments. as the two of them hide on the side of a ride, they will soon see a small cluster of bright colored clowns approaching them. their faces are painted, but they all appear with wide smiles and honking merrily as their shoes slap against the ground through small puddles of rain water.
the clowns don't speak, but as they spot vax and vin they wave! they seem very excited to see the two of them, and they loom a little closer as their hands gesture joyfully. one of them appears to be riding a unicycle, one is clutching a set of juggling pins that they show the two of them and the last clown is holding a hula hoop.
honk honk!]

he just mouths "what the fuck" at vin when they start to approach, expecting them to just pass by...
...and then when they start saying hello, vax tenses pretty much immediately and reaches for something at his belt. he does not let it go, especially when they start...clowning? towards them? oh no. ]
Yeah, yeah - great, fantastic. Didn't realize the Fletching and Moondrop was clowning around here - where the fuck did you come from?
[ is there any sign of where the honking might have originated besides In The Distance beyond the clowns ]

she'd take a step back if they weren't already pressed to the wall, but she looks about ready to bolt or fight a clown as they approach. she also has no idea what a clown is so this just looks mildly terrifying to her.
they might not be talking, but she's wondering if that'll change if she addresses them. hope springs eternal. vax has where handled, so after a short pause she continues with:]
Who are you?

now that they have their attention...a faint hint of music also appears as the clown on the unicycle begins to ride in a circle around them. the other clown begins to juggle, and the third hula-hoops in time with the music. the unicycling clown rides around them to herd them closer to the group, the juggling clown laughing soundlessly and the hula-hooping clown smiling impossibly wide.
what will they do?]

the minute they press in closer, vax's hand at his belt comes up with a fairly large shard of glass, the top part wrapped in a piece of bloodied upholstery, and he swipes it in the direction of the closest clown. not actually aiming to hit any of them right away? but definitely swinging a sharp object threateningly goodbye get away ]
Back off!

also a sharp shard of glass. i hate it. she doesn't have music trauma but this is bizarre and she doesn't trust it!! that being said, she doesn't move to attack, but she's holding the shard and getting into a defensive position as they move closer, watching them and their ominous clown actions closely. why did these two in particular come on this investigation i'm in tears]
Who are you?
[surely if she says it more insistently they will answer (no)]

well.
that just won't do? the clowns seem briefly affronted by the sudden show of violence and distrust and the music immediately fades away. the hula hoop clatters to the ground and the pins stop flying through the air as the clown on the unicycle approaches both of them. a brightly colored flower is pinned to their lapel, and as they adjust it it opens wider to spray vax and vin in the face, leaving behind a new look for both of them.
the clowns begin to laugh, pitch raising up to a cackle as they clap and stick their thumbs in their mouths. a sound similar to that of a helium balloon reaches their ears as the clowns blow on their thumbs, growing larger and rounder.
without warning...
POP.
a loud boom echoes throughout the whole carnival, and a shower of confetti falls and mixes with the rain water. the clowns and their equipment are gone, and all that's left is silence.
goodbye.]

I fucking hate clowns.
