WEEKEND ZERO: OVERFLOW

Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

This cold is one problem, and dehydration is another. I'd like to find some solution for both of them today. [her stomach growls] ...there are plenty of other problems as well, but those are the two most pressing concerns that I think we'd have the most success in resolving right away.

I have seen people sampling everything already. The good news is that nothing seems like it will kill you in 24 hours. The bad news is that none of it is of good quality.

You know, physical activity is a good way of warming up. If you haven't tried that it could be worth a try.

Well, we'll just have to keep searching for alternatives... but at least no one seems to have gotten terribly ill from it.

You're not wrong. I didn't notice much of a difference yesterday, but I did spend quite some time investigating that... amusement park...? And it was raining there, so I imagine that would have cancelled out any of the warmth I got from moving around.

[Food poisoning feels so likely given everything else that has happened, while at the same time it'd be the least of everyone's problems, haha. Have mercy of us, mods]

If you don't mind visiting a creepy location there's an abandoned laboratory as well. It's worth exploring thoroughly.

Before we go, I should warn you you will see a number of quite interesting creatures, most likely created in that laboratory. None of them are, shall we say, pleasing to the eye.

It won't be the first time I've seen displeasing things, and I'm sure it won't be the last, either.

Science can be quite gruesome sometimes, so if at any point you wish to leave that's fine.

[At least November isn't imposing his own standards onto others...except when it's about fighting.

Arriving to the laboratory doesn't take long. It's as colorless and eerie as everything else, and it doesn't help that upon arrival there's not only the stuff in the tubes, there's also whispers and movement from the corner of their eyes]

[With both of them keeping an eye all over the place, having their guards up is easy! The laboratory is as sinister as usual, that's for sure. There's no trace of November's usual good mood, completely focused on the task at hand. This man doesn't lollygag around, it seems!

How unfortunate, I'm just as unfamiliar with all this as you are. Everything around us is an unreadable mystery for me.

[He'd just gather information, submit a report, and let someone else handle it. Perhaps someone in this group of ragtag kidnapees knows about this technology and he can give them the information and wash his hands off this!

Perhaps we are fortunate enough a science expert got dragged along with us. We're a large group -- someone must have skills we don't.

Well that is a good idea. May as well begin taking stock of it by writing about my remarkable skill for instigating riots and discord in large communities.

Oh, I don't know if we can count that. It's been a few days and you haven't managed to instigate a riot among us just yet.

[It's so rare for someone to bounce off something he said. Most of the time all he gets is an alarmed stare and little more, so that someone is willing to reply to that like this is a refreshing change. He likes it!]

[November observes one of the creatures suspended in a tube. It's such a gross thing, yet he stares at it as if it was a fish in an aquarium]

What are your strong points, Su? Is there anything about that you would like to share?

[for her part, she's mainly looking around the lab for anything she might be able to use for medical purposes. please... she needs her kit back...]

Well, I'm a doctor. So if someone comes down with an illness or gets hurt, I should be able to assist at least a little, even if we don't really have the sorts of supplies we need just yet.

[November definitely is coming to Jiuqing to get his grievous light beam burn treated once it happens -- although it will be hours after it happens, really]

I'd almost dare say any illness happening here will be unlike anything you may have seen ever before.
