WEEKEND ZERO: OVERFLOW

Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

Super gross! Everything's in total disrepair like no one's lived there in ages, and there's all kinds of nasty stains all over everything.

We have to be in a later era, right? If it's like this. [Not that Ye Olde Japan doesn't have abandoned buildings and creepy temples, but some of the weird items and the general rancid vibes...]

Right. But I don't know what could do this. [Clutching his SAD GRAY HAORI SLEEVE.] Or why they would want to, if it is the retrograde army. It doesn't really make sense, right?

It doesn't match up with what we know of their MO at all...

[He'd initially thought they were behind it, but after talking to a few people, he's far from convinced.]

Whatever's going on here might not have anything to do with those guys, for once. But if that's the case, I don't even know where to start.

I guess it could be a human...

[But he clearly isn't convinced, because even though humans can be weirdos, it would probably take an immense amount of power for them to be able to do stuff like this?! And, yeah, he can't even begin to imagine why they'd want to. He is a simple Shinsengumi lad.]

Have you talked to a lot of the people here already? Maybe one of them knows something and we just haven't found them yet.

[Yeah he also doesn't look super convinced that it's a human, but he's trying not to judge humans and their general wimpiness too hard... Especially since some of the humans here are so damn weird.]

I've talked to, like, ten? Maybe fifteen? No one really knows anything so far, but I think there's at least twice or maybe even three times that many people here.

But Yasusada nods slowly, taking that in; then he jumps as Pride Sadako (presumably) bangs on the door again.]
