WEEKEND ZERO: OVERFLOW
WOW

Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.
Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.
Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.
Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to
Things of note!
► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the weekend, and happy settling!

MY ICON
It's the liminal spaces vibe! Y'know, humans don't really like places that are supposed to be bustling with life but then there's just nothing there. [...] Also the bloodstains and crying kids are a little weird, yeah?
no subject
Depressing, perhaps. But not creepy. And nothing I haven't seen before.
[ WHEN YOU GROW UP IN WAR... ]
no subject
Also that does sound like something a no-nonsense man would say, so he just sighs.]
It's an aesthetic thing. [CLEARLY this man just wouldn't get it!!] That's not bad, though - I think between the two of us, that's everywhere covered. Oh - except the alley. I went down there real quick and didn't see anything, though.
no subject
What, like someone wants to willingly choose the dilapidated look? I'm no fancy noble and if anything, quite dislike the fancier things, but I wouldn't choose this.
[ He raises a hand to his temple, thinking emoji. ]
Then sounds like that's the place to go.
no subject
Oh, we're majorly on the same page there. But there are a lot of weird aesthetics out there, y'know? And a whole lot of weird people who're into 'em.
[He's seen so much in his time. So many dark places of human fashion and aesthetic...
That gets a curious little head-tilt, though.]
You think they're doing the "hide stuff in the place no one would really think to look" thing?
no subject
Of course.
[ In that way. You know. When you just hear anything ridiculous and it's just easiest to agree. ]
What? Just thought that if neither of us had bothered to look then may as well.
[ He doesn't think too hard about the motivations behind things. ]
no subject
Oh - 'kay, that works, too. [He also just doesn't question things much! Yeehaw.] It shouldn't take a long time, it's not a big place. It does make you feel kind of sad, though...
[Lonely is the word he's looking for, but he's still learning emotion.]
no subject
[ The nonchalant shrug-off of that. He's actually pretty used to being the usual least-emotive of those around him so this isn't new. If Kashuu thinks it's sad somehow, then sure. ]
no subject
[He just makes a little noise about it, because honestly, he's used to spirits being more in tune with Things That Make You Feel Funky™ in general so this checks.]
--Well! Let's go, then. And while we're going, you mind telling me a little about your style? Do you guys have schools or different styles?
no subject
Barely. ]
I dedicated myself to honing the art of the lance since the first that I begun wielding a weapon for myself. Whatever you would consider 'typical' education was more at the back of my mind. [ Whether that's usual schools, or churches, or whatever. ]
no subject
He seems content with the fact that this guy's talking at all though, so he's careful to listen as they meander out toward the spooky alley.]
Ooh! Nice, nice - having a totally unique style gives you a pretty big edge. What kinda thing d'you favor, then? Speed over strength, strength over speed...?
no subject
Both are paramount to being a dragoon. Though if you're asking me to choose, I suppose I would say strength.
no subject
[Ah, the days when people just got out there on the battlefield one-on-one and stabbed each other violently.]
But that makes sense! You need both to be really efficient... Why strength over speed?
no subject
[ It just never ends!!! ]
Speed is efficient in survival and escape, but means little if you don't have the strength to pierce through your foes.
no subject
Yeah, no matter where you go, war's usually there, too.
[He'd say "with humans" but it is very obviously not just a human problem. TERRIBLE. Well, he knows as much from how things are back home, anyway...]
Super true, though. You sound like a frontlines kinda guy, y'know?
no subject
I've seen plenty of the frontlines. Mayhap a bit too closely.
no subject
I guess in the end, the world really would be better for the people in it if no one ever had to see any frontlines, huh?
[This is a hard thing for a sword to admit, which is probably why he doesn't sound like an overzealous peacekeeper about it...]
no subject
Hey. You could still be used as the personal arms of people for self-defense. Weapons wouldn't be totally obsolete. ]
Would it that that were possible, but that is not a reality I know of.
no subject
Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen a peaceful era last a long time...
[He says, normally, like a normal human with a normal human lifespan. BUT IT'S FINE there's the arch to the alley!!]
Ready?
no subject
I'm afraid I haven't studied much of history to know more.
[ He knows Ishgardian history and that's like. That's it. ]
Suppose it would be pointless to not be ready.
[ No trepidation, steps right on thru. ]
no subject
Anyway he'll just step right on in alongside this lad, dropping the subject of history because that's kind of a tough one to approach when you're a secret time traveler.]
O-kay. I can take this side, yeah?
no subject
He waves Kashuu off in a sign of acknowledgment, as he first goes to check out these fences. Nothing on the other side, huh. He can climb it I think, if I remember mod answers right, but nothing much beyond.
Trash, trash, more trash...
After a few minutes, he returns with little to show for it except a look of distaste. ]
Tell me you were more fortunate.
no subject
There is so much trash in this alley though, yeah. And the feeling of LONELINESS, which Kashuu absolutely hates. He's doing a good and thorough job of checking his side, but he sure doesn't look happy about it.]
Ugh... Nope. There really isn't anything but junk. No doors, no swords, no nothing.
no subject
Estinien finds this feeling uncomfortable but he can handle it. Negative emotions are something he's very familiar with and resilience goes a long way. Only one shade away from grief. ]
Then at least tell me I am not the strange one in feeling this oppressive air. Is there a single place about here that doesn't reek of unpleasantness...
