WEEKEND ZERO: OVERFLOW
WOW

Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.
Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.
Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.
Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to
Things of note!
► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the weekend, and happy settling!

[ Guess he didn't have to look at test tube babies though.
He glances aside at Chinatsu and at the least, commends her for not immediately fleeing. ]
What do you suppose it is? The fruits of labour by some war civilisation? [ AGAIN? ]
no subject
War? [(estinien voice) war never changes] It just looks like some evil scientist's weird laboratory.
Why is this even here...?
no subject
Bioweapons or some such.
[ Does he just not want to explain or does he not really understand it enough to explain? Take your pick. ]
I haven't an idea, I am just as new to here as you are. Wouldn't recommend touching it, though it also bodes ill to leave it be.
no subject
[Waow...
Carefully, but not reluctantly, she takes a few steps forward into the laboratory. Once she's sure nothing is going to immediately leap out at her, she starts slowly walking while looking around.]
It looks like a movie set...
no subject
[ Does not elabourate.
Estinien will do her a favour at least and move forward ahead, being far less cautious as he opens a cabinet or two or whatever is in here. Cellphone? Pspsps? ]
But I haven't an idea what you're referring to.
[ Movies? ]
no subject
Instead, she watches him rummage for a moment, and then she starts rummaging too. Cellphone pspsps. Oh! Is he still cosplaying? It's fine. She has accepted this.]
A movie? It's like... a play, I guess. This place looks fake to someone like me. We don't have evil laboratories.
no subject
Stop she's not going to glance away for one second and he's going to suddenly be shirtless. Just nothing but his HeatTech and fantasy spandex or whatever, oops.
Reaching into these tall shelves because he has this power, may as well make use of it. ]
None? Do you come from a rural society? [ World? Star?? ]
no subject
Eehh? [SHE GIVES HIM AN OFFENDED GLANCE.] I'm not from Shikoku! [She thinks he is calling her a bumpkin.] I'm from Saitama.
[This means absolutely NOTHING to Estinien.]
No one has evil laboratories that look like this. If any laboratories are "evil," you wouldn't know unless you worked there... or unless a whistleblower told on them.
no subject
This means absolutely nothing to me.
[ YEAH. They both may as well be the same Doman province as far as he knows. ]
Then how can you say for certain evil laboratories don't exist? Sounds to me that it just means you've never seen one.
[ HE'S JUST SAYING. He doesn't know your world but his world sure do have weird wacky scientists and thaumaturges! ]
no subject
If there are evil laboratories, they don't look like this at all. This is grossly exaggerated. The less an evil lab looks like an evil lab, the easier it is to get away with it.
[Imagine having a whole empirical facility with bioweapons just on display... Imagine!]
no subject
]
I thought you'd said you'd never seen an evil laboratory before!
[ How would you know that Chinatsu!!! What are you basing your thoughts on!!! ]
no subject
There aren't any buildings that would look like this at all! Have you ever seen an evil laboratory, Estinien-san?
[She is waiting.]
no subject
Of a sort.
[ Not like he has stuff to hide, he just doesn't bother elabourating. ]
Much bigger than this, however.
no subject
[Well, now she's invested in his story he is not sharing at all with her.]
How big? What was it like? Estinien-san! Were there bioweapons...?
no subject
Not anymore, if I could help it.
no subject
Ohhh. You stopped them? Are you a hero, Estinien-san?!
no subject
. . .
Hero is pushing it, I was merely paid to do the job.
[ Kindly don't call him a hero, those are big boots. ]
no subject
[She
looks at him expectantly.]
You could have taken on a bad one. Like joining the evil lab.
no subject
I'd sooner be shipped back to Ishgard and serve as a foot soldier than work in a laboratory, at any rate.
no subject
[She doesn’t even have morals sometimes. Very funny.]
Is Ishgard like the military…?
no subject
Right. I know that, but I'm speaking -- objectively. [ Being called a hero is actually too embarrassing for him. Let him work from the sidelines. ]
Ishgard is the city-state I am from. [ Beat pause. ] But yes, we are fairly militaristic.
no subject
Oh……Riku. I can’t believe everyone else is playing my brand of characters the one time I am not doing so.]
You do give off the impression you’ve been in the military for a long time. [Hmm.] What are you fighting…?
no subject
Crossing his arms. ]
It was dragons.
no subject
Dragons…
[Her eyes grow a little wider, and then she
squints at him skeptically. Is he a LARPer?]
You don’t like dragons?
no subject
STOP HIS EARS ARE REAL IS THAT NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU. But wow way to ask a real complicated question, Chinatsu. There is a long silence, and then he just says it like it is: ]
It's complicated.
