Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.

Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.

Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.

Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to chroma! While characters have access to the locations available, they do not have access to anything else including their home items. Please note that characters do not know what their primary color or complementary colors are as of yet, and IC profiles are not in-play at this time.

Things of note!

► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.

[so about those shadows wandering the area - buzen is just going to keep trying to creep closer to them, up until they disappear right before his eyes. he repeats this multiple times. in fact there might be a shadow nearer to you and he's just going to mouth from afar and start gesturing before he just whispers loudly]

also he's more surprised to hear someone speaking japanese than offering a jacket. wh ]

Oh, hello. [ he offers a small bow of his head in greeting first. ] Are there extras?

and then he's just gonna shrug off his jacket]

[ he IMMEDIATELY rejects this, waving his hands animatedly in deep regret. ]

It'll be a favor to me, really - I was going to take another scouting lap and leaving my outer layer with someone to hold onto it would be a great help.

and then she shrugs and attempts to pounce on the shadow!! this obviously does not work. it does send it over closer to buzen tho and she whispers loudly and excitedly ]

[Truthfully, the shadows have November a bit miffed. This feels like latent danger if you ask him, and that he can't do much about it bothers him quite a bit. There's water nearby, but the river is some distance away, a little too far for practical use.

Still, when he's instructed to catch the shadow, November keeps his eyes on it, but asks aloud anyway:]

Are you certain that's a good idea?

[Mostly trying to get out of having to touch them, yeah]

[buzen just tilts his head]

Maybe they're a ghost who can tell us something important.

The other phantoms around here are harder to catch - but at least we can see these.

Well this may be useful after all! His mood brightening a little, November seems interested:]

Are ghosts usually willing to talk? If someone captured me I'd be a bit too annoyed to answer truthfully.

[Well, some bodily harm tends to make some people more eager to talk for but you probably can't do that to a ghost!]

I don't believe that you are. Or rather - if you are, we all are, and such a widespread, rapid onset of colorblindness seems a bit unlikely...

[although, she does have to admit that unlikely isn't impossible, per se.]

Are you having trouble seeing some things too, miss? Do you know what could've caused it...?

It seems to me that it's less that we're having trouble seeing things, and more that the color is just... not there. My clothes were colorful, before.

[she indicates her clothing, which is monochrome, and then her hair, which is still brown.]

But this is the same as ever. It's the same for everyone I've spoken with so far, as well.
