WEEKEND ZERO: OVERFLOW
WOW

Unnerving. That may be the best word to describe how the vibes feel as your sight begins to clear and you find yourself on the ground. The air is chilly, and you don't see anything that may represent the sun or the moon for a sense of time. You look around expecting to find some sort of buildings, wildlife, or anything of use, but your immediate line of vision only shows a sprawling monochrome landscape.
Are you feeling adventurous? As you get to your feet, you have the opportunity to wander further and begin assessing the situation. You'll quickly find that the only thing on your person are the clothes on your back. Traveling will eventually lead you to a few areas, though none of them appear very promising either.
Don't stray too far, however. While there are few hints of plant life (nothing nourishing, nothing satisfying), you won't find much else. There's no food or running water; resources seem scarce. The further you go, the more you begin to feel colder and weaker. Your eyes begin to play tricks on you, and everything ahead of you looks unfocused and even more gray than before. An imminent sense of danger hangs above you...you can't quite pinpoint why, but your gut instinct says there's something else out there just lying beyond your reach.
Perhaps you'll have luck another day. For now, it seems as though your only option is to make use of the areas you do have access to and try to settle in. But don't worry, you aren't alone. There's 35 other people just waiting to see what you'll do next.

Welcome to your weekend zero intro to
Things of note!
► You can find food (cotton candy, stale hot dog buns with no hot dogs, etc) in the carnival, but none of it is filling. It's monochrome, and you're hungry again five minutes later.
► There's water in the mansion but it's kind of grey.
► Seriously, it's cold.
► You arrive in your canon outfit. It is also monochrome, like someone drained the dye out of your clothes.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the weekend, and happy settling!

[ well, here's the arrival prompt.
when chang geng comes into focus, there's something sharp in his expression, a blink and you'll miss it sort of alarm - and then he evens out again, as if this is absolutely normal. he reaches, right above the leather of his bracer in the crook of his elbow, pinching without looking down, scanning the area, taking it in.
pensive concern, there. but alright. he can work with this. and he'll very diligently check on whoever's arrived in this place, too. ]
Certainly better conditions to find ourselves in, but certainly there are worse ones, as well. Are you alright?
II. a moment of prayer
[ exploration is eventual on friday, and chang geng is not particularly inclined to sit around and wait for answers. his wandering, cautious and calm, brings him to... something a little familiar. the temple is more dong ying than it is something from great liang, but he's regardless drawn to it.
its upkeep, though... dryly: ] Amitābha, what a state. Even Master Liao Ran would swoon.
[ well, he's going in! crossing the bridge, anyways. he doesn't pay much mind to whether he's accompanied or not.
come saturday, he's just - hanging out here. seated on as clean a patch as he could find in the temple, ignoring the banging door, appearing to be meditating at the moment. ]
III. salvage attempts
[ so. in the mansion? chang geng is just picking through various rooms, going from placidly on guard to getting vaguely tired of all of this shit. you can find him checking out what sheets there are here with a sort of disdain, actually, which broaches on disappointment.
when he notices someone's joined him, he holds up one in particular that's raggedy and... bloodstained. you could hope it was chocolate. it probably wasn't. ] While old, this sort of thing never does bode well. I can't say I've found anything useful, though - you?
IV. wildcard
[ moving prompts over here in case anyone wanted to tag in on the overflow :hei: but will slowly start moving threads here, as well. if you'd rather pc or wildcard me, let me know! ]

Well. At least someone was apologetic, I suppose. [ he's more impressed by the fact that anyone was alive after to even not be sorry. couldn't happen to him, but different experiences. ] I doubt whoever or whatever is behind this will be particularly sorry.
no subject
[Which is going to be a chore, given their current lack of powers.
Also by the time they reach the bridge, Atsushi is going to stop for a moment to breathe.]
Sorry, I'm not actually this out of shape I swear.

Yes, that... festival, or some such. [ white people nonsense. ] And some amount of food, even if it's just as miserable as the rain. We can see if we can't find something in that location with the dormant monsters to collect it in, I suppose.
[ he doesn't necessarily perk, but he does seem to fully focus his attention on her. ]
There's never any treating foolishness, but it would make treating the injured far easier if there was a way. I take it you're used to contending with both?
thank you for taking pity on me
[she has way too much experience in dealing with foolishness. it makes her tired.
she bows politely in greeting.]
Su Jiuqing, at your service. Though I go by Su Yang when practicing medicine.
love u of course

[ some shrines and temples come to look like this, even in great liang - but not many, and they don't feel like this. there's definitely not a good vibe here. it feels like they're not meant to see any of this. ]
I don't, either. Something off, rather than old, especially with the shadows constantly in motion when you aren't looking head-on at them.
no subject
Right. And the door, inside... [He can't figure out if it's something/one that needs help, or if it's some evil entity that's been sealed for its own good, but he's leaning towards the latter.] It's best to be cautious for now.

We are strangers, but, more importantly, we're in strange times together. I don't know about the many others here, but I'm not inclined to looking away when someone needs a helping hand.
[ over to the bench you go, kumon. ]

He gives him a little smile in response.]
You're really nice. It'd be nice if I could help out too.

Well, it could be worse. Let me guess - the heatless fireplace?

Apologies, I don't know what an IV is. [ so, whether this is a good or a bad thing, he doesn't know. he goes about checking out more sheets in the meantime. ] The rain water in that... festival, or whatever it is, is slightly better than what's here on the grounds. But we'll have to get creative.
no subject
[ hopefully he can rely on someone else for all of this 'survival' stuff...? ]
... And an IV is a way of getting medicine in your bloodstream. Medicine goes into tube, tube goes into needle, needle goes in your veins.

[ a nod to her response, and then - he seems perfectly fine, with falling into silence, as he picks through the sheets in the room. he gestures at one point, to indicate where he's going when it's going to be coming closer to her. but. they can coexist like that.
and then, a soft ah, before he starts to tear a strip off a cleaner (well, insomuch as it's not as disgusting as the rest) sheet that he comes across. ]

She does, however, look over when she hears the sound of the fabric tearing. Raising an eyebrow in his direction...]

I wouldn't know. I tend to make sure it's said directly to their face, usually. [ he'll say it to a bitch's face. but not to someone working customer service, they don't deserve that. ]
If we can stack it, or prop them upright against some of these holes, it might be able to help block some of the draft. Not much we can do about the pervasive cold, but better than nothing.

[ hm. the good news is, chang geng has an idea of what bullet wounds look like, being from a silkpunk china. the better news is that this doesn't look like it's going to kill him, currently, although that's particularly odd given how fresh everything looks even in the monochrome. he breathes on his hands, rubbing them together after in an attempt to not bring the chill of their surroundings with him, and then reaches out, carefully testing around the edges of the darkened skin where the bullets charred his clothing. ]
Too many personalities here to make it particularly effective to start. But efforts can be made, if nothing else. I'd prefer that to sitting around and waiting to waste away in this soulless place. [ too many people that are closed off, or reticent, or hostile. but he's worked with worse. ]
Chang Geng is fine. How should I be addressing my patient?

Food and medical supplies - or improvised supplies, if nothing else. We've had some arrive injured, but we have nothing to treat them with. [ tsk, he pushes the chair leg into the fire proper when he sees that it stays ignited. ] Just some bandages made from strips of fabric that are hardly clean that I've torn off sheets.

Or before we run out of already limited resources. [ or freeze to death. or get dragged into the shadows by whatever is whispering in them. ] At least no one's pointing fingers at one another yet, as far as I've heard. We're all rather in this together.

III. Salvage Attempts
He stares at Chang Geng for a minute as if debating something, looking at the rag the other's picked up before meeting his eyes and speaking. ]
None. I would describe it all as the bare minimum needed to survive, as imagined by someone who had 'basic necessities' explained to them as an alien concept.
no subject
he doesn't mind the staring all that much, and instead is more than willing to wait out estinien. he turns the sheet around in his hands, before finding a section that he can carefully pick and pull at, to tear a dirty edge off. ]
I believe that would be a very apt description, in the long run. I don't believe most of the arrivals could subsist off of stale bread and cloudy water for an extended period, especially if there's only so much to go around.
